Pleas April Term 1811 } in the Territory of Louisiana
John Dill complains of Perly Wallis, for that whereas the said Perly Wallis on the sixth day of August in the year of our Lord 1807; at Arkansas aforesaid made his certain note in writing; commonly called a promissory note subscribed with his own proper hand; bearing date the day and year aforesaid; & then & there delivered the said note to the said Dill to the use of the said Dill; and by the said note promised to pay to the said Dill or order fifty Dollars & forty cents, for value received, and by reason thereof the said Perly Wallis became liable to pay to the said Dill the said sum of money contained in the said note; according to the tenor and effect of the said note, and being so liable, he the said defendant promised to pay the said note, but the said Perly Wallis not regarding his said several promises, but hath hitherto wholly refused and neglected to pay although often requested to the damage of the said John Dill one hundred dollars and eighty cents; & therefore he sues. A. Haden atto B the note on which this suit is founded is in the words and figures following (to wit) For value received I promis to pay or cause to bee paid unto John Dill
or order the just and full sum of fifty dollars forty cents as witness

We command you that you summons Perly Wallis if he may be found within your Bailiwick, that he be and appear before the Judges of our Court of Common Pleas to be holden at the Town of Arkansas in and for the District of Arkansas on the first Monday of April next, then & there to answer unto John Dill, the sum of fifty Dollars & forty cents as per his note given to the said Dill, on the Sixth of August 1807, and to the Damage of the said Dill as he says one hundred Dollars and eighty cents and have you then there this writ.
