Thomas W. Johnston v. James Ball, John Williams,
& William Blalock

T.W. Johnston This is an action of Debt $230 62 ½ Filed 24th Augt 1824 County of Pulaski } Thomas W Johnston by Ambrose H Sevier his attorney complains of James
Ball, John Williams and William Blalock of a plea that they the said Ball,
Williams and Blalock render unto him the said Johnston the sum of two
hundred and thirty dollars sixty two and a half cents which they owe to
and unjustly detain from him the said Johnston. For that whereas hereafter
to wit on this 14th day of January 1824 at the county of Clark and within
the jurisdiction of this court the said Ball, Williams & Blalock by
their certain writing obligatory sealed with their Seals with their proper
Signatures thereto prefixed and now hereunto the court shewn this date
whereof is of the same day as above written they or either of them on
or before the first day of April then next following promised to pay said
Johnston two hundred & thirty dolars sixty two & ½ cents.
Yet these the said James Ball, John Williams & William Blalock or
any or either of them hath not as said said Johnston the said [Image
of page 3] sum of $230.62 ½ or any part thereof altho often
requested so to do, but to pay the same or any part thereof hath hitherto
wholly neglected & refused and still doth neglect & refuse to
the damage of the said Johnston one hundred dollars & therefore he
sues &c The clerk of the superior court will please issue a summons on the foregoing
directed to Clark County A Ty |
