Joseph Paxton complains of Henry W Conway in a plea that he render unto him the sum of Five thousand and five hundred dollars which to him he owes and from him unjustly detains, for this, that the said defendant on the second day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one at Little Rock in the county aforesaid made his certain writing obligatory his name and his seal being thereunto subscribed and which is now to the court here shewn the date whereof is the same day & year last aforesaid, and by said writing obligatory then and there acknowledged himself to be indebted to the said plaintiff in the said sum of Five thousand and five hundred dollars above demanded. and although the said sum of money hath long since been due. Yet the said defendant though often requested so to do, hath not paid the said sum of Five thousand five hundred dollars above demanded or any part thereof to the said Plaintiff but the same to pay or any part thereof to the said plaintiff, he the said defendant hath hitherto wholly refused [Image of page 3] and still refuses so to do. To the damage of the said plaintiff of one thousand dollar dollars therefore he brings his suit &c Wm H Parrott P.Q

The Clerk of the Superior Court will issue a capias on the within and bail in the sum of six thousand dollars and indors is an action of debt debt five thousand five hundred dollars

To the Sheriff of Pulaski County–Greeting:
WE command you to take the body of Henry W. Conway if he may be found in your bailiwick, and him safely keep, so that you have his body before the Judges of our Superior Court, at the Court-House in the town of Little Rock, in the county of Pulaski, on the first day of our next October term, then and there to answer Joseph Paxton to a plea of debt five thousand five hundred dollars damage six thousand dollars, and that you make the return of this writ to our said Court.


IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand as Clerk, and affixed the seal of office, this 10th day of September 1827, and of the Independence of the United States the forty Fifty Second
