In the superior court for said Territory
To October Term 1828

The grand Jurors of the United States impannelled sworn and charged to inquire in and for the body of the Territory aforesaid upon there oaths present and say that Benjamin Desha late of the county of Pulaski in the Territory aforesaid gentlemen on or about the twenty second day of October in the year of christ one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven with force and arms within the county of Pulaski in the Territory aforesaid then and there knowing by did bear a challenge from one Robert Crittenden to one Henry W. Conway requesting him the said Henry W Conway to fight a duel with him the said Robert Crittenden the probable event of which said duel might be the death of him the said Robert Crittenden or the death of him the said Henry W. Conway [Image of page 3] and the Jurors aforesaid upon their oaths aforesaid do further present and say that Benjamin Desha late of county of Pulaski in the Territory aforesaid gentlemen knowingly then and there was the bearer of a certain other challenge from the said Robert Crittenden one to the said Henry W. Conway requesting him the said Henry W. Conway to fight with him the said Robert Crittenden a duel with duiling pistols the probable event of which said duel might be the death of him the said Robert Crittenden or the death of him the said Henry W. Conway and the Jurors aforesaid upon their oaths aforesaid do say that the said Benjamin Desha was the bearer of the said challenges in manner and form aforesaid knowingly and unlawfully contrary to the from of the statue in sutch case made and provided provided
